Heavy rain leads to closure of Jammu Srinagar NH, suspension of Amarnath Yatra

Jammu: Shri Amarnath Shrine Board has suspended the yatra for the first time from both Bhagwati Nagar base camp Jammu and Srinagar base camp due to closure of Jammu Srinagar National Highway and yatra track after heavy rainfall.

Camp Director Thakur Shair Singh has said that after the weather improvement Yatra can be resumed again but presently the yatra has been suspended from Baltal route.

Meanwhile the work on Jammu Srinagar highway which is blocked at several places due to landslides is also going on to reopen it as soon as possible so that yatra from Jammu could be resumed.

Worthy to.mention here that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing heavy rainfall from last 24 hours due to which landslides have become frequent on the highway besides the yatra track has also become unsuitable.
